Ingredients
🥣 Rasam Grind

1 tbsp horse gram (dry roasted)

½ tbsp coriander seeds
-
1 tsp black pepper
-
1 sprig curry leaves
-
1 big tomato
-
6 garlic cloves
-
¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
-
1 tsp cumin seeds
-
¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
🥄 Rasam
-
1 cup tamarind water
-
Salt – as required
-
¼ tsp turmeric powder
-
1½ cups water
-
A few coriander leaves (for garnish)
🔥 To Splutter (Tempering)

1 tbsp ghee
-
½ tsp mustard seeds
-
1 dry red chili
-
1 sprig curry leaves
Instructions

🌰 Dry Roast Horse Gram
-
Roast horse gram in a pan until aromatic.

🌿 Add Spices
-
Add black pepper, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, carom seeds, and fenugreek seeds.

Sauté for 30 seconds.

🧄 Add Garlic & Curry Leaves
-
Mix in garlic and curry leaves, sauté lightly, then turn off the stove.

🔄 Coarse Grind
-
Grind the mixture coarsely.

Add the tomato and grind again coarsely.

🍳 Prepare Tempering
-
Heat ghee in a pan.
-
Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add dry red chili and curry leaves, roast lightly.

🥘 Cook Rasam
-
Add the coarse grind mixture to the pan, sauté briefly.

Add salt, turmeric powder, water, coriander leaves, and tamarind water.

Bring to a frothy boil.

🌿 Garnish & Serve

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with steamed rice or enjoy as a spicy soup!
